Dr. Smt. Gayathri Girish is eminent Carnatic vocalist .She was a disciple of Vaigal Gnanaskandan and T. N. Seshagopalan. She gave her first concert as a child artist in 1986. Gayathri has also learnt to play the violin under the tutelage of Smt. T. Rukmini. Her strengths lie in a rich, mellifluous, well-modulated voice; meticulous awareness of sahithya (diction & pronunciation); the purity and precision that characterise the rendering of ragas and a strict adherence to tradition. She won the Kalaimamani award given by the Tamil Nadu government in 2009.
