Sri. Anirudh Athreya is the Great grandson of Late Sri. Papa K.S.Venkatramiah- one of the great violin Maestros of yesteryears and also of the legend Late Sri Alathur Subbier of The Alathur Bros fame. He is the grandson of the late violin maestro Kalaimamani Sri V. Thyagarajan. Seeing Anirudh's interest in percussion his grand uncle, the late Kanjira maestro Kalaimamani Sri V.Nagarajan volunteered to teach him the art of playing the Kanjira. He gave his 1st performance at the age of 13 in which he accompanied Padmabhushan Sri. P.S. Narayanaswamy. Following the passing away of Sri V. Nagarajan, Anirudh took up his tutelage under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. T.K. Murthy- one of the all time greats in the field of carnatic percussion and is currently pursuing his training under him.
