R.Vijayalakshmi & R.Chithra, Carnatic vocalists singing as a duo in the name of "MAMBALAM SISTERS". We are disciples of Sri B.V.Raman & B.V.Lakshmanan and are presently being trained by Smt.Suguna Varadachari. We are "A" grade artistes of All India Radio and have perfromed extensively all over India and abroad. We are recipients of many awards, notable among them are 1) Nadabhushanam from Sri Shanmukhananda Sabha, New Delhi, 2) Vani kala Nipuna from Sri Thyaga Brahma Sabha, Chennai, 3) The Kartik award of excellence from Kartik Fine Arts, Chennai. We are known for our rich repertoire and thematic presentations which include concerts exclusively comprising of specific composers like Thyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshidar, Shyama Satrigal, Swathi Tirunal, Purandara dasa, Narayana Theerthar, Gopalakrishna Bharathi, Harikesanallur Muthiaha Bahgavatar and also comprising only Divya Prabandam, Tirupugazh, etc.
