T.Viswanathan hails from a Musical family. His maternal grandfather Thirumullaivayil. Muthuveer Pillai was a famous Thavil vidwan who was honoured by The Mysore Rajah and The Indian Government.

Mrudangam artsite Mayavaram T. Vishwanathan is one of the most sought after percussionist amongst dancers. He has been widely appreciated for his flawless support in music and dance concerts. Mrudangam artist T. Viswanathan graduated from the Tamilnadu Music College in 1990. Since then, he has been receiving advanced training from the world renowned Mridangam maestro Guruvayur Dorai.
