Monali is a multi faceted musician, singer, lyricist, composer, teacher and performer. Having begun learning vocal music and dance from the tender age of 8, she completed her bachelors in Electrical& Electronics Engineering, while continuing her musical journey which also resulted in her winning the prestigious Kerala University Youth festival award for music. After a fairly long stint in corporate, she decided to leave corporate life and decided that her life would be completely soaked in music. 

She is the founder & Academic Director of'The School of Music', Adyar, chennai. A school that nurtures students of every age! She has developed a unique pedagogy for teaching beginners. The music school today offers courses not only in vocal, but also instrumental music and dances. 

She has composed music, both as musical pieces as well as for dance ensembles of Kathak, Bharathanatyam and Odissi. Many songs have been written and set to tune by her too.

She has trained in Carnatic classical, Hindustani classical, Rabindra Sangeet, from eminent gurus. She has the capability to sing in many languages.
