Born  in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Shrimati Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya has trained in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Shrimati Chitra Visweswaran at the Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts in Chennai.

Shrimati Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya has been featured in programmes presented by important Sabhas in South India and has also performed extensively in the various prestigious dance festivals in other parts of the country such as Kinkini Festival, Soorya Festival, ICCR's Horizon Festival, Konark Festival, Mahabalipuram Festival and Nrityotsav organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. She has also travelled to the U.S.A., Australia, Sri Lanka and France for performances. She has also participated in several productions of her Guru and performed at the various prestigious festivals within the country and abroad. She has also choreographed numerous thematic productions including Kodhai Alwar and received wide acclamation.
