Born  in Chinnamanur, Tamil Nadu, Shri A Vijay Karthikeyan belongs to the family of musicians and received his initial training in Nadaswaram from his grandfather, Shri C.V. Ganesan, later he learnt under the tutelage of Thiruppamburam Brothers, Shri T.K.S. Swaminathan and Shri T.K.S. Meenakshi Sundaram. He has also learnt vocal music from his mother Shrimati G. Krishnaveni Arjunan.

A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and an empanelled artist of I.C.C.R., Shri A Vijay Karthikeyan has widely performed in many prestigious music festivals in India. He has also participated in many seminars and workshops on Carnatic Music. He has received several awards from various prestigious organisations. Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor of Nadaswaram at Faculty of Fine Arts, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.
